GCD-470 electric drive heavy rail car, suitable for railway construction and overhaul line transporting personnel and equipment, can be used for industrial departments and small shunting operation, parking can also provide high power AC power supply for railway rescue, engineering machinery. The rail car has been assigned to the Qinghai Tibet railway company, China Railway twelve Bureau, part of the railway Gongwu section. Since the opening of the Qinghai Tibet railway, the first GCD-470 heavy rail vehicle has been riding on the snow covered plateau all year round and withstood the ordeal of the harsh environment of the Qinghai Tibet plateau. The model won the three prize of science and technology award of China Railway society.
